Here it is! …the last day of the month, and the last day of our series of “31 Days of our Favorite Things”! And today, my buddy Matt Hester is going to tell you why you should consider Hyper-V in Windows Server 2012 over VMware.
- Nothing and nobody scales to support bigger, more memory/CPU/and IO capacity than Hyper-V.
- Nothing supports more storage capacity or options than Hyper-V.
- Nothing gives you all the unlimited portability for live, running virtual machines and their storage (also live migrations) for no additional cost, while maintaining all of the scale and performance options. No limits!
Do I have your attention yet?
“Yes!”
Then make sure to check out Matt’s excellent article before downloading the Windows Server 2012 evaluation, or even the free Microsoft Hyper-V Server.
And you also might want to read the “Why Hyper-V?” document (pdf), comparing Hyper-V 3.0 with VMware vSphere 5.1.

Are you running VMware? Do your plans include an evaluation of Hyper-V? Do you have any questions on how to get started, or any concerns? Ask your questions. Share your comments. Take your pot-shots. I can take it.
